I shot this video in May of 2013, at what may have been the very last live musical performance at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. A Tchaikovsky concert performed by the Santa Monica Symphony, under the direction of the late Maestro Guido Lamell. I remember meeting him and suggesting he bring his violin to the City Council meeting and "play" his case for keeping the Civic alive and open. And he did, but the Council shuttered the Civic a short time later, and it remains closed to this day.

MODE Dial-A Ride Service for Older Adults
Big Blue Bus has partnered with Lyft to provide on-demand services to replace the Dial-A-Ride program for older adults and people with disabilities living in Santa Monica. The new service is called MODE (Mobility On-Demand Every Day), and will improve curb-to-curb and door-through-door transportation. Lyft’s flexible transportation service network will allow MODE to meet the high demand for service during peak times when members are most interested in traveling while increasing efficiency when the demand for transportation decreases.
